On Wednesday, April 5th we had our Allentown Community Action Team (CAT) meeting. At our monthly meeting, we had guest speaker Kristine Blasco Director of the Sixth Street Shelter. It was a very interesting to hear how the shelter works. They have 25 apartments that house homeless families. There is an ongoing list that consists of over 100 homeless families that are selected based on certain criteria. The families reside in the apartments up to 60 days. The families move on once they have the tools to live on their own. For more information on the policies, please contact the shelter.
There are many ways to help the shelter. They accept donations and volunteers and collect needed supplies. You can reach them at 610-435-1490.
Our CAT team will be meeting again May 11th at 5pm at our union office. We are planning many activities for the summer. Please join us.
