Allentown Mayoral Forum

Last night, Power Northeast, Make the Road, the ACLU, and Health Care PA, hosted a Mayoral forum in Allentown.  Our members joined with others from the community to hear their plans for improving Allentown.  There are 9 candidates, 7 Democrats and 2 Republicans, running this primary season.  Candidates fielded questions about racial justice and inclusion, the NIZ, educational inequity, immigration reform and municipal ids, police department racial profiling, the environment and much more.  If you were unable to attend, you can watch the facebook live stream on Power Northeast’s facebook.

The Pastor from Resurrected Life Community Church so eloquently said, “A city that has been good for some of us, can be great for all of us.”  This sentiment was a thread running through most of the candidates’ responses.  How do we improve Allentown for all of us?  As a union member, one of the ways to improve your community is by being active in your union.
