May 1st is International Workers’ Day, and your union has challenged workers to rise up and resist! People came together across Pennsylvania and the country to rally in support of immigrant rights and the policies that protect working families. As a union that represents workers from many diverse backgrounds who speak many different languages, we know first hand the contributions and sacrifices that immigrants, both documented and undocumented, make every day to make our country the great place that it is.
In Allentown, we joined with Make the Road, Healthcare PA, and Power Northeast to make our voices heard. We heard from community members who shared their stories of immigration and solidarity. Many workers and businesses supported the day of action by closing their businesses and skipping work or school to show what immigrant labor means to our country. It is important that we continue to stand united against injustice and stand for worker rights and immigrant rights!
