Day of Caring is the United Way’s community service day.  It brings together energetic volunteers to complete community service projects throughout the Lehigh Valley. Last year, over 1,000 individuals contributed approximately 113,000 of volunteer hours in a single day. More than 50 companies allowed their employees to miss time from work to volunteer painting, spending time with seniors, delivering meals and much more.  This year United Way wants the day to be bigger and better than ever.

In total we had 53 adults and kids. We had union members from Bethlehem School District, Allentown School District, Majestic and our retiree’s help prune hundreds of rose bushes, mulch rose beds. and plant dozen of new bushes. We worked along side members from AFSCME, IBEW 375, IBEW 827, Lehigh Valley Labor Council, BEA, AEF, IUOE, UFCW, SEIU, PSEA and TeenWorks.

The Bethlehem City Workers helped distribute 88 cubic yards of mulch.  Without their help we would have been there for hours.

The Rose Garden looks great and is ready to be admired by the public.
