The Pa Joint Board hosted the Reading School District food service workers first annual union picnic. The picnic took place at Gring Mill Pavilion. This park is home to historic buildings and a beautiful barn. Recreation facilities include six tennis courts, a softball field, an eighteen station exercise course, one sand volleyball court, and a ranch-theme children’s play area. A game court area features volleyball and shuffleboard courts, quoits, and horseshoe pits.
The picnic took place Monday August 21st from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm. The menu consisted of assorted lunch meats and cheeses with your choice of breads. There where side salads, meat and cheese tray, pickles and olives, soda, water, ice tea and lemonade. Union members brought dessert and side dishes to share with everyone.
Along with trying to glimpse the Solar Eclipse today through cereal boxes as a viewing tool, bubbles were floating all over the place and kids had fun playing on the play ground.
Members were updated on the next membership meeting which will take place September 21st at Reading High School at 3;30. At this meeting nominations and voting will take place for a new E-Board.
The hope is to make this annual event even better next year with the help of our new E-Board.
